Sad to see summer end? With all the fall festivities southcentral Pennsylvania has to offer, we're sure you won't miss it for long. From hayrides to pumpkin picking to a Civil War-themed corn maze, there's enough to keep you busy through the harvest. Check out these places to evoke your autumn spirit.

Barefoot Farm

Address: 6621 Bluebird Lane, Dover Township

Attractions: Pick-your-own pumpkin patch, hayrides, a straw fort, a corn box, an ice-cream shop, apple dumplings and apple cider. You may also cut your own fresh pollen-less sunflowers and broom corn.

Brown's Orchards & Farm Market

Attractions: Hayrides and pick-your-own pumpkins and apples

Hours: Hayrides run from Sept. 21 through Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays

Cherry Crest Adventure Farm

Address: 150 Cherry Hill Road, Ronks, Lancaster County Attractions: Corn maze, hay jump, coloring coop and straw bale slide. Check the website for special events. including Pumpkin Madness on Nov. 2, during which you can take pleasure in smashing pumpkins.


Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 16 through Sept. 19; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 20 and Sept. 21; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Nov. 7; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Nov. 9. Flashlight maze is 6:30 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Admission: $15 Thursday and Friday; $18 Saturday. Free for children 2 years and younger. Flashlight maze is included with admission.

Corn Cob Acres

Address: 191 College Ave., Mountville, Lancaster County Attractions: Bat cave, haystack slide, farm animal barrel train, dress up a scarecrow, pumpkin patch, among others. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 14 and noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 15; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays through Nov. 3.

Admission: $12 for adults and children. Free for children younger than 2.

Fields of Adventure

Address: 64 Tree Lane, Aspers, Adams County

Attractions: 7-acre corn maze, zip line, pumpkin patch. In honor of the 150Battle of Gettysburg, the maze features a Civil War theme complete with educational games. To make navigating the maze even more challenging, bring a flashlight and try it in the dark.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 7 p.m. Sundays in September; 6 to 10 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 7 p.m. Sundays in October and November.

Admission: $8 for those 12 years and older; $6 for children 4 to 11 and free for children 3 years and younger

Flinchbaugh's Orchard & Farm Market

Address: 110 Ducktown Road, Hellam Township Attractions: Pick-your-own pumpkins, corn maze. Fall Fun Fest - which runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 5, Oct. 12, Oct. 14 and Oct. 19. - will feature pumpkin painting, wagon rides, face painting and straw bale jungle gym. The corn maze is open Mondays through Saturdays until Nov. 9.

Admission: Fall Fun Fest activities are a la carte. The corn maze costs $5 for those 13 and older, $4 for children 3 to 12, and free for children 2 and younger.

Fort Hunter Mansion and Park

Address: 5300 N. Front St., Harrisburg, Dauphin County

Attractions: Fort Hunter Day, an autumn festival featuring old time ways of life. It includes crafts and

games, exhibits, farm animals, music, craft show, 17th and 18th century demonstrations and food.

Halloween in the Park

Address: Codorus State Park, 2600 Smith Station Road, North Codorus Township

Attractions: Campers decorate their sites and distribute candy to trick-or-treaters from 6 to 8 p.m. only. An entire area of the park is transformed into a festive, Halloween display and light show.

Markets at Shrewsbury

Address: 12025 Susquehanna Trail, Shrewsbury Township

Attractions: Children's Straw Adventure Maize, which includes a scavenger hunt, pumpkin painting and scarecrow making. Harvest Fest will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12.

Hours: Adventure maze runs Fridays and Saturdays until Oct. 26; the market is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays; and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays

Mount Hope Estate

Address: 2775 Lebanon Road, Manheim, Lancaster County

Attractions: Performances of Poe Evermore are presented in various rooms throughout the historic Mount Hope Mansion, allowing guests to explore a variety of Victorian rooms

Hours: Open Wednesday through Sunday, Oct. 30 through Nov. 10. Performances run about two hours; check website for show times.

Admission: Tickets are $16.95 Wednesday and Thursday and $18.95 for Friday through Sunday performances. All shows can be upgraded to include an all-you-can-eat buffet before the performance: Lunch and show tickets cost $31.95; dinner and show tickets cost $42.95.

Smyser's Farm
