The tradition of the annual Latimore Valley Fair in York Springs will continue again this weekend, with appearances by Crackers the Clown, several tractor displays and a petting zoo.

Now in its 27th year, the fair, which features vendors from the Latimore Valley Steam Engine Association, is a fundraiser for the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing, according to Barbara Paxton, who has been organizing the fair with the help of many others for several years.

"It's a beautiful museum full of lots of racing history, all kinds," Paxton said, adding that the museum will be open during the fair. "We have no paid employees, just members who give their time and talents to the museum and fairgrounds."

Fair activities begin Friday night at 6 p.m. with an antique tractor parade, followed by a performance by the country band "2nd Shot" from 7 to 10 p.m. Crackers the Clown will also be on hand for kids from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

"The kids, and adults, love her show and she does the most remarkable face paintings I have ever seen," Paxton said.

To top off the kid-friendly activities, the fair will also have pony rides and a petting zoo. For adults, there is a classic and antique car "Cruise Night" on Saturday evening. And the York Springs Cub Scout of Pack 89 will be serving breakfast at the fairgrounds on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

For those interested in music, the band "Border Line" will perform Saturday night. There will also be open jam sessions Saturday and Sunday afternoons on the craft stage.

When asked which of the events lined up for the Latimore Valley Fair this weekend is her favorite, Paxton couldn't name just one, but noted that the people coming from all over makes it a special time.

"I enjoy all the aspects of the fair, mostly seeing the people that come every year. It's like a reunion. They come from all over," Paxton said. "I enjoy the vendors, the cruise-in on Saturday night, the race cars, and I look forward to the tractor parades each day. It's great to see family involved."
